Sustainability has a future. nora systems GmbH is a co-initiator and founding member of the German Sustainable Building Council.

To bundle, demonstrate and promote solutions and methods for sustainable construction - from the planning, implementation and utilisation through to recycling and disposal. These are the goals of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). The focal point of the DGNB's work is on awarding a certificate for sustainable buildings. The criteria for this seal of approval are based on the results of the Sustainable Building Round Table at the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development. As well as the life cycle principle, it incorporates the ecological aspects of "green building" as well as the economic and sociocultural themes, and in doing so addresses all three pillars of sustainability to an equal degree.

The DGNB was founded on June 25, 2007 by architects, planners, building product manufacturers, investors and scientists. A group of initiators who had long been occupying themselves with the issues of sustainable construction played a key role in this event. Among these initiators was also nora systems GmbH, which is certified in compliance with DIN EN ISO 9001 (Quality Management System) and the international standard DIN EN ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System). nora rubber coverings fulfil, during both production as well as in use, the demands placed on floor coverings by sustainable planning and construction.

The DGNB currently has around 600 members and organised Consense, an international congress with a trade exhibition for sustainable building.
